History
Usui Shiki Ryoho (Usui System of Reiki) comes from ancient teachings, some of which are 1000 years old.
Reiki is an oral tradition handed down by lineage bearers for over 100 years. Reiki was brought to the Western World by the third lineage bearer Hawayo Takata. Mrs. Takata was born in Hawaii in the year 1900. Due to illness, Mrs. Takata went to Japan for surgery but instead of having surgery she was healed by Reiki. She returned to Hawaii with the ability to heal with Reiki Energy Medicine and established the first clinic on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
